Hewlett Packard Ink Cartridges

Hewlett Packard Ink Cartridges are pricey but offer some real advantages when you need the absolute best end result.

One of the first things you will see on the subject of Hewlett Packard Ink Cartridges is they are expensive. Inkjet printer ink is certainly not cheap, and many cartridges are more than others. The first thing I check when shopping for a new inkjet printer is the cost of the ink cartridges. The cost of the printer is one thing, but the cost of ongoing ink cartridges can dwarf the initial printer costs in a very short time.

One of the HP's biggest (if not the biggest) profit centers is their ink cartridge business. I'm surprised they don't give away their printers, since it's all about selling their ink cartridges. And they have done just about everything possible to protect that business. Each cartridge has a small computer chip that will tell the printer when that cartridge runs out of ink, some claim even when they know the cartridge is not empty.

But on the other hand their ink products are carefully manufactured to the highest quality standards and have come up with ways to keep the ink from smearing and highly fade resistant. Not sure if you get a better yield on number of prints per cartridge but the Hewlett Packard Ink quality is better than most if not all alternatives. Then of course there's the fine print on all HP Printer warranties that state if you fail to use genuine Hewlett Packard ink cartridges you void your warranty.

Always check the ink cartridge cost of any inkjet printer before you buy! One way to help keep the ink cartridge cost down is to check each printer model for which ink cartridge it uses and find the lowest cost cartridge. Many of the new HP printer models use Vivera inks which are special inks designed not to smear and last much longer against fading. You may not need this higher cost ink if you will not printing photos or documents that need to be archived for long periods..

Use a third party software program to not print graphics when printing from the Internet. Some browsers and add on software let you skip the graphics when printing web pages, this saves you printing time and ink. Use the software that controls your printer cofiguration to print in draft mode when you only want to use the print out for a short time.

Check the alternative ink manufacturers, they also sell the genuine Hewlett Packard ink cartridges for discount prices.  Several of the large aftermarket ink manufacturers sell HP ink cartridges for 10-15% off retail prices. Of course you can also try their products with are up to 50% less and claim to have the same quality. For non photo printing or everyday paper printing tasks they should work fine.

Hewlett Packard ink cartridges are highly recommended and have a good reputation for quality. But you do pay a premium price for that quality. Although the Hewlett Packard Ink is high quality ad can produce better colors, that may not be a concern on many printing chores. Check prices from online dealers and you might be able to get at least 10-15% discount.
